Heidi Watney (born May 19, 1981) is an American sportscaster who serves as a reporter for Apple TV+. Her prior experience in sportscasting includes stints at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles) as well as two stations in Fresno. Watney was a student at Clovis West High School in Fresno, participating in gymnastics, hurdles, diving and cheerleading. She was a National Merit Scholar, and she was accepted into the University of San Diego as an academic scholarship. She was awarded an honors degree in 2003. 2. Watney has competed in the Miss California USA pageant, in which she was the initial second-place finisher in 2002. Watney is the daughter of professional golfer Nick Watney. 7 Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel, stated that Watney was his first name, and he created the character Mark Watney from it.
