Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarships and community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He was one of the three brothers that were players for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the nation's best lineman. He was awarded two championships as well as the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After college, he moved into Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
